I remember exactly where I was when I heard the news of Brandon Lee’s death.
It was early morning and I was still in high school. I was out playing handball with the boys before class when ‘Spud’ came running up to the court and told us “Brandon Lee’s dead!”. Being April 1st in Aus we all thought it was an April Fools prank by the little fella and laughed it off. The next day we weren’t laughing anymore.
I’d only just seen Rapid Fire the weekend prior and it had wowed me. It was one of my earliest exposures to Hong Kong fight choreography. A year or so later I saw The Crow and quite literally my life changed. I saw it six times in the cinema and it remains one of my all time favourite films.
Thank you Brandon.
